It's not often that a TV series spin off from a movie becomes so successful. I'll give the nod to Tony and Jack.

@BizSuitStacy Show was produced by Gary Marshall, who later went on to make "Happy Days". The intro to this show is classic and outstanding. [media=https://youtu.be/r-1zEh1wu4c]

Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau were great in the movie version of "The Odd Couple". But with the tv version, Tony Randall and Jack Klugman stole the show.

I'v only seen the movie and can't imagine Walter and Jack being topped.

There was another "Odd Couple" TV series. It starred Demond Wilson (Sanford and Son) and Ron Glass (Barney Miller). Didn’t last long.

@BlueSkyKing I never heard of that one.

Not as sinple as it sounds. Randall and Klugman were great. But they actually played at being Matthau and Lemmon.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I heard Randall and Klugman on a talk show once and they both admitted to being a lot like their characters in real life. Randall really was a neat freak and Klugman really was a slob, although I'm sure they exaggerated it even more for their parts.

@IM5688 Agreed. They also soft pedalled the characters for TV series, as opposed to being a touch more edgy for the movies. But lets face it. Both sets were great..

The older version was sad and serious and disturbing.
