I Love French Cinema

5 Jeanne Moreau films i need to see before i too leave this mortal coil

1. Elevator to the Gallows - 1958 - why haven't seen this yet, there's no excuse. I have heard the Miles Davis soundtrack though...

2. The Lovers - 1958 The Louis Malle films here (#'s 1, 2 and 4) i have a feeling are among his best films, probably due to Jeanne being in them.

3. The Bride Wore Black - 1968 - one day ...

4. The Fire Within - 1963 - I am intrigued about this one as being an uber depressing take on alcoholism, i do like that sort of thing.

5. Nathalie Granger - 1972 - it's on youtube but without subtitles, directed by Margeurite Duras ... i stand corrected, thankfully, c'est existe!!! Well at least 28 minutes of it in 3 seperate videos, maybe more, the dialogue plays an important part in it so unless i learn French it needs to be translated for dumb schmucks like me haha, Duras was a great author too, up there with Robbe-Grillet, thanks to youtube i have tasted Duras just a tiny bit, and she sure seems like an ascetic compared to Grillet at least, more like Rivette:)

Jean-de-Florette and Manon des Sources have to be all time favourite French films. Also Un Couer en Hiver.

Oh, and if you've not seen Les Diaboliques, it's one of the finest films I've ever seen. Do watch that too!
