@Tinkles Aha, at least someone is watching the Belgian stuff 😎
@Kwek00 Belgian?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles The smurfs? That's a Belgian export product.
@Kwek00 AHH ok 🙂 the Moomins are Finnish and Poddington Peas has English written all over it!

@Tinkles If Podding Peas wasn't in there... I would make an estimated guess and think you were from the german language area. But those peas are so BBC.
@Kwek00 and they were amazing! I'm English through and through lol

Stop motion animation was where English kids shows was best!
Oakie Doke
El Nombre
Hairy Jeremy
The Clangers
Wombles
The Herbs
Old Bear

Oh soo many more!!!

@Tinkles I watched a lot of CBBC too when I was a kid... but stop motion just wasn't for me back then. Even Pengu pissed me off 😅

But I learned to appreciate it a lot more later on.
I had a severe allergie problem, and I had to be at least inside for a couple of times to take my medicine which was vaporised and inhaled over a periode of time. So mom and dad bought a VHS and recorded every cartoon they could get their hand on so that their little boy would stay in the chair. Because Belgium back then only had 2 channels in dutch and almost NO kids shows... I watched german channels (ZDF and ARTE), French (TF1) and our Belgian (RTBF) and BBC. We also had the 3 channels from the netherlands where I could get cartoons from.

I largely learned to understand the neigbouring languages just by watching cartoons in languages that weren't my own. CBBC also had "Muzzy" back then, which was a great help.
@Kwek00 aww I'm sorry that sucks but great it taught you languages 🙂 I don't know Muzzy, probably just before my time
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles Muzzy was a kids show with educational purposes. You can still buy them for the children to learn other languages.

Well, the experience has made me into a lazy TV watcher, but I've seen loads of cartoons. You have no idea how much cartoons I've seen.
@Kwek00 I don't know why but it reminded me of superted

@Tinkles That's also really British, just like Bananaman!
@Kwek00 the most British of them all is William's Wish Wellingtons
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles You think?

I think the most British thing on CBBC wasn't a cartoon tough... it was "Super Gran"

[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtymNiYlSD4]
@Kwek00 never heard of that but it's not a cartoon lol I was sticking to cartoons lol

But that's got nothing on the magical musical merry-go-round

@Tinkles Damn, I remember that guy too. And this irritating jingle where you call into CBBC which was:

0 81 811 81 81

Fucking drummed that tune every hour into childrens ears, and then told them to ask mommy first because it was an expensive number.
@Kwek00 oh my days yes! I had forgotten about that stupid number! Lol
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles I never forget that jingle... it's plugged into my brain 😖
@Kwek00 hopefully this will help 🙂

Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles I know this intro, but I'm not sure if I ever saw a full episode. I just wasn't into these things that much. Just like "super-gran", a kids show played with real actors... I kinda skipped most of those. I was just into cartoons a lot at time.

But no, I don't think only dementia can cure me of the CBBC phone jingle. And in that case, I rather won't get cured.
@Kwek00 hahaha fair enough lol
Do you remember the snorks?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles Yeah, the stories of captain Ortega were deffinatly true. In dutch they call "De Snorkels", with Daphné and Allstar and the weird orange guy that can only make trumpet sounds.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles Wow, I just found out that the English intro, misses the "captain Ortega" part 😅 ... damn. It was just cut out over there or added over here. I'm not sure.
@Kwek00 in the UK the trumpet guy, hooter(?) was green, I think
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Tinkles Yeah, you are right, he had spinach hair!!! That orange guy was the kid of the mayor. A bit of a stuck up bugger.
@Kwek00 yeah and he was always sneaking about, which made me laugh given he was bright orange lol
