@Ghostinthemachine Somewhere, many years ago, I read that the cast only got the job because they could deliver the lines with a straight face. I also remember hearing that Neil Hamilton (Gordon) took the role very seriously and didn't always get the joke of his character's pomposity. Who knows if that's completely true?
