I wish 'TRON Ascension' Hadn't Been Canned
'TRON: Legacy' is one of my all-time favorite movies, and after seeing it I really REALLY wanted to see what sequel they rolled out. I had come up with an idea called 'TRON: FRONTIER', which involved a returning Sammy Flynn, Quorra, the live-action Beck's debut, and the introduction of a new character who somehow through transitioning to the Grid becomes a sort of reverse-ISO, part-program with a light-suit for skin and the ability to generate his own identity disks by sliding them out of his shoulders and down his arms [I was originally going to call him 'Dike Cody' and his program name would be 'Dyk', but, well, you figure out how that would have gone. I came up with this idea way back in 2012 and I didn't know half the curse words and insulting nicknames out there, yet]
When I heard the sequel would be named TRON Ascension, I was still hyped, but am now sorely disappointed at Disney for canning it in favor of their half-@$$ed live action animated film remakes [and I was already sore at Disney] and right after the unceremonious and pitifully quiet cancellation of 'TRON Uprising', no less.
This is a piece I drew years ago back when I was still obsessed with the franchise, and only just found again today, so I vectorized it, cleaned up the color a bit, and made the light streak a little transparent.
I haven't yet figured out what his name is or how he would fit into a film subtitled 'Ascension', but an idea I'm running with is that this character somehow 'ascends' into his 'reprogrammed' form [I still don't know how] and maybe the villains' plan is to 'ascend' humankind and digitally terraform the world and enforce balance upon the two worlds. Again, I dunno'. I would think that the titular character, Tron, would also have a more prominent role to play, maybe attempting to stop said villain by rescuing the forcibly 'ascended' character and training him to fight back while they work together to stop the bad guy. I really wish Disney hadn't canned the sequel. I really don't like Disney anymore.
