I watched a film about two young roma women who fell in love

Called Carmen and Lola from 2018. It was great to see actual Romani people in a film about what is a great taboo topic in a closed, patriarchal society. They were Spanish gitanas and im a Portuguese cigana but it was great to see someone like me on screen. I’m half Romani half Caucasian and the intermarriage between my parents is already different enough but both sets of grandparents came to accept the relationship and marriage when it started. I’m also a queer woman. My family tolerates and accepts my sexuality and would never mistreat or disown me for it but they are somewhat ignorant about lgbtqia matters. Granted they at least ask questions so they are willing to learn. I explain things patiently because I have to understand being like 60 years old almost their world was so different from mine growing up. I’m also intersex and they blame themselves for me turning out to be both female and male but being a hermaphrodite who lives as and is phenotypically female is not all bad. I’m somewhat unique. I have fallen in love with men and women. I also can be attracted to intersex people like me, trans individuals, non-binary and gender non conforming folks. The Carmen and Lola movie shows a more human side to gypsies and not just as stereotypes. I grew up among non-gypsies my whole life instead of growing up in one of those cloistered communities. I really enjoyed the movie.
