Pitch perfect 🤭

Only 2 really stick out in my mind. Star Wars the Original Trilogy and The Matrix series. Actually, The Matrix was it's own movie, and then Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions were one full movie and had to be split into two because of the length.

But look how long the Gettysburg movie was, 4 or 6 hours I believe, sooo I mean technically they could have done it but for more money better to split it into 2 more parts like they did.

@greensnacks So awesome! My favorite too. I saw all three in the theater. I've watched them all so many times. The special effects that they usedin those films were groundbreaking.

@InterdimensionalSideEye Yes! The Godfather three was just as good as the firsr two, in my opinion, even if the critics give it flack come part to the first two parts.
@SleepingWithGhosts I feel the same.

The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix.

Tombs of the Blind Dead (1973-1975)
@badminton The third movie shifts the traditional crypt setting to the sea, following the undead, sightless Knights Templar as they terrorize a ghost ship though.
@badminton @GeretJan it's a quadrilogy where all 4 are equally great.
@robingoodfellow It's the perfection part that's also important. That way I believe no-one will claim it for The Godfather.

The man with no name trilogy;
A fist full of dollars
A few dollars more
The good, the bad and the ugly
The Before trilogy consists of three films directed by Richard Linklater, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Each film (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight covers a few hours in the lives of the main characters, filmed (and taking place in the story) 9 years apart. The trilogy explores the romantic relationship between the two main characters over time.

Before Sunrise takes place in 1995 in Vienna. Hawke plays Jesse, an American student who meets Céline, a French student played by Delpy. The two spend an intense night wandering the streets of Vienna and fall in love. Their obligations require them to separate, but they agree to meet again a year later.

Before Sunset is in 2004. After having returned to Europe to meet up with Céline, she doesn't show up for their rendezvous, so Jesse returns to the US and marries another woman as he and Céline did not exchange their contact information and he has no other way to reach her. The film takes place in Paris after Jesse has become a successful author, and happens to run into Céline by pure chance while promoting his latest book. The two of them spend the afternoon together and rekindle their romance. The film ends with Jesse deciding to abandon his family and life in the U.S. and stay in Paris with Céline.

Before Midnight takes place in 2013 on the Greek coast. Jesse and Céline, now married to each other, argue through the course of a day over Jesse's desire to relocate to the U.S. to be closer to the son he has with his first wife, while Céline wants to remain in Paris for a job offer that she wants very much to accept. The two eventually reach an understanding.

Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy discussed a fourth film in the series for 2022, but were unhappy with the ideas they came up with and decided not to do it. So it will remain a trilogy. The films are unusual in their use of the same characters over an 18 year period both in the films themselves and the actors' lives. It's similar to Linklater's film Boyhood (also starring Hawke) which was filmed from 2002 to 2014 and chronicles the life of a family over that period as the children grow up. The Before trilogy manages to present the entirety of the characters' lives through three widely-separated days, and asks what the reaction to true love should be and to what extent this should affect other aspects of life and our relationships with others. Jesse and Céline also appear briefly in Linklater's animated Waking Life.

As a trilogy, the films achieve an equivalent level of quality and should be viewed in their entirety.
