Star fiction! 🙃

Enjoyed TNG. The plots, cast, and especially the ship.

Saw Star Wars as a kid and it stuck with me. A New Hope Never gets old. Its franchise is a masterwork.
Alec Guinness as Obi Wan...the immortal Sensei.....always felt like a dear old friend.

@SethGreene531 TNG is The Next Generation?

I think the original SW trilogy really is a masterwork. And what the Prequels did for building the universe is immense
@caPnAhab Yep, TNG is The Next Generation. Followed some of Star Trek Enterprise, but while it was decent, it lacked the appeal of its predecessors.
Did you ever follow the other Star Trek incarnations....Classic with Kirk, Deep Space Nine, etc?

Absolutely agree. The prequels dovetailed pefrctly with Lucas's former 3 works from the 70s/early 80s. (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.)

A susscessful sequel is hard enough to pull off. But George Lucas worked backwards from A New Hope; a film already 40 years old, and wrote the 1st begginings of Obi Wan, Darth & the rise of the Empire - and likewise, Luke and the Rebel alliance. An immense contribution.

The original Star Trek is my favorite TV show of all time. Better than Sopranos and Breaking Bad. I did love the first Star Wars but never got into any of the others.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@4thdimensiondream That's good to know. I do like Breaking Bad... I haven't finished it though
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
I'm a fan of pretty much all science fiction, with both Star Wars and Star Trek being my top favorites.

And if it weren't for Science Fiction classics like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, The Day The Earth Stood Still, It Came From Outer Space, Fireball XL5, and Astro Boy, there wouldn't be Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Space: 1999, Star Wars, or Battlestar Galactica.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@Sidewinder Must always pay respect to the genre's progenitors
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@MsSwan It's difficult deciding where to start with Star Trek. I've been recommended the original series. That's probably a good place to start
@caPnAhab Yes, I would agree. Might as well start from the beginning.
BooksRMe · 46-50, M
i think of the Trekkies as being more blessed with the amount of stuff to enjoy.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@BooksRMe You're probably right. I'm willing to bet Star Wars has them beat in the videogame department.
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
Star Wars without a doubt. I can't get into Star Trek.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@SleepingWithGhosts I'm really trying to give Startreck a real shot, even a few times already
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
@caPnAhab The only one that was kind of good, in my opinion, was Star Trek The Next Generation. The stuff with The Borg was pretty cool.
RebelRaven · 51-55, F
Star Wars, but I also like Star Trek.
Both, but definitely Star Wars first.
Wars because I’ve never seen Trek
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@TurtlePink I think that's where I'm at. I've watched Wrath of Kahn and some of JJ Abram's Trek movies. That's not enough to get a thorough opinion yet I think
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
@caPnAhab I view the JJ Abram’s films as more of a tribute to original
Star Trek. In fairness I only saw the first one and a bit of the others. Original series perfection and holds up today although the effects are terrible.
fun4us2b · M
Wars is good, but Trek is way better
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@fun4us2b In other words, are you saying it is more grounded?
fun4us2b · M
@caPnAhab Yes, more relatable - also, there were so many episodes of Trek verses a small number of Wars movies - so in fairness, trek has many more story hours to get the message out.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@fun4us2b I think that's a fair opinion
dirge · M
trek usually feels way too glossed over and idealistic
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@ScreamingFox Of course. This is the obvious choice
Koggg · M
Kgo dont care
Neither anymore, and I was an original Star Wars kid, seven when the original came out.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@NativePortlander1970 That's too bad. I'm not excited about the future of stories in modern Star Wars movies....

Videogames however are where it's at these days.
