Anyone ever watch the series 'Doc Martin' with Martin Clunes?

Are there any remakes that were worth the effort? My impression is that most US remakes of UK television series remove a lot of what makes them funny in the UK for fear of offending people in the US.

But I watch so few such things that I only have second or third hand reports of it.

Generally I'm of the opinion that trying to replicate a success is usually a doomed effort and that the money, etc., should be spent on creating one's own success.

I mainly enjoyed it, particularly for the Cornish scenery, I like Clunes and have also watched some of his documentaries. Sometimes I thought Doc Martin could get a little hokey at times, or two of the characters (Bert Large, Sally Tishell) would just get on my nerves and I would have liked for them to have perhaps created less annoying characters

Plus short length of UK series (typically less than 10 episodes per season) and then sometimes more than one year passing between seasons was annoying compared to a US prime time network series with 20-22 episodes per season ... I assume this abbreviated UK series cadence is what Netflix has chosen to copy for its own series

loved doc Martin - martin clunes is excellent

loved the crazy characters too.

I'll have to try Best Medicine but suspect I'll be disappointed.

I’ve been watching Best Medicine but never saw Doc Martin. I’ve been trying to like this show but I’m pretty close to giving up. They went too far with the absurd.

It was a good series.😉 Remakes are always a disappointment. 🙄
