Has the film/movie industry ran out of ideas?

I used to love going to the cinema once a month or so to watch the latest new release but now all there seems to be is a choice of sci fi or fantasy, none of which interest me in the slightest and there seems to be no end to it
Hamnet is about the only one showing at the moment but that's not really me, perhaps i was born with the wrong brain and should like sci fi....

Theree's some good movies about, but you're right; a lot of sensitive drivel is being made to try and reach the lowest common denominator.

My other 'arf, she loves Sci Fi...and Marvel....I think TV is fast becoming the new film industry.

Like 'Slow Horses', 'FBI', 'Pluribus', 'Dept Q' all great series that, I think for me, takes the light off of movies and make me much more prefer to stream.

@KarenDuponteDurose1 I'm probably weird because I can't relate to sci fi or fantasy, it has to be real for me to engage.
My ex loved sci fi, she had to find a friend to go with if she wanted to watch a new one at the cinema because i'd have probably spoiled it by yawning and looking at my watch 🤣

It's a shame the way it's going because it's a fairly cheap night out, we have an independent cinema and it's only a fiver to get in but the films at the moment seem to be aimed at kids.

@RodneyTrotter1 we have a home cinema set-up, but haven't you found, since Covid, the prices have just gone up and up? Not such a cheap night anymore.

@KarenDuponteDurose1 I'd love one of those. I get most of mine from a certain downlaod site and I've got loads that I haven't watched yet.
The local Odeon is stupidly expensive, two people with a drink and popcorn would be lucky to have change from £60 but the independent one is less than a tenner for admission and drink with a snack, a couple of beers after and it's a decent evening out.

@RodneyTrotter1 Cost, like £20k-£25k to get it all sorted. Beautiful room. Even watch the news in surround! Lol!
