Has the film/movie industry ran out of ideas?

I used to love going to the cinema once a month or so to watch the latest new release but now all there seems to be is a choice of sci fi or fantasy, none of which interest me in the slightest and there seems to be no end to it
Hamnet is about the only one showing at the moment but that's not really me, perhaps i was born with the wrong brain and should like sci fi....

Lately I reach for old movies from 90s and early 2000s. Recently I watched Now and Then (1995) and it felt so satisfying. I had never seen it before, only some scenes many many years ago and had no idea it was from there.
I don't say I don't like new movies but the older ones bring sweet nostalgy and comfort.

@CrazyMusicLover And at your age too! 😀 You already sound like me.

@FreddieUK I can imagine you can feel that way even for older movies. For me it starts maybe in late 80s, even if I wasn't even born then. But movies from 70s and older are usually too old for me. It must be something special and artistic if I want to enjoy it. Nothing like Alain Delon or Belmondo. I usually can't stand watching those. 😅 Columbo or James Bond with Sean Connery has never grown on me either.
