Presumably, in a commercial world, the TV companies believe there's a market for it and advertisers are prepared to buy spots in it.

@FreddieUK It makes a profit, that's the bottom line. But it also goes on because it has constantly changed the cast, the writers, etc.

@FreddieUK Its true. But unlike some other "free" countries, the comedy genre is the only place in America you will see free and unfettered political comment. I agree that the quality has wained (not for the first time) recently.. But if you want to see government or society held up to account in America, comedy like SNL Colbert or the Daily show is where you go.. The news and current affairs wont touch it..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman And the audience proves it's commercially worth ignoring the political pressure. I imagine news stations do not have deep enough pockets to stand up to the inevitable court cases that follow real facts being aired.

@FreddieUK Agreed. But with streaming the whole thing is global. The nature of the media is shifting.. Also going global.. Time will tell whether thats better or worse.. But I dont like the idea of Musk owning his own internet..😷
