I watched the documentary on a place called slab city

Everybody who's living there is saying how great it is, but at the same time they were talking about vigilante justice and if you leave your stuff too long people would steal it and it was incredibly dirty...
no running water ,plumbing, or soap, apparently 😭

Ive seen that. Pretty scary and im a very street wise person, but geesus. This is how life would be if the monetary system collapsed. The strongest survive. Lawlessness and clans the new rulers of districts.

@Perry1968 I think maybe the drugs cloud a bit of their judgment ?Because, I don't see how you could live that dirty and desperate sober.
I do think it's good that they look out for each other as much as they can.

@Justmeraeagain 100%. Its a skulduggery existence. You could clearly see it was a life for those who rejected "normal" society so you know definitely drugs. Alcohol. Theft etc exists. Dangerous place as the court system there is a bullet and a shallow grave i should imagine if you mess up.

I know ,I wouldn't last as
I am not somebody, as they said in the documentary, that's going to "hold their own"

@Justmeraeagain You would probably be surprised what you would do if the animal in you was forced out. It would be eat or be eaten.

I guess, I'm glad it doesn't have to be tested.
I came close to being homeless once and lived in a motel for a while.
It wasn't very long and I got a job, but it was kind of scary.
It wasn't the nicest of motels in the world .
One guy was kind of creepy.
I finally lied to him and told my boyfriend was going to be there in a few minutes, which I didn't have.

@Justmeraeagain It is scary. Im glad it didnt hapoen to you. I try not to judge because most of us are just 1 pay check from being homeless. Especially in these times. Ive been homeless twice. Once at 19. Then at 47. Im very very greatful to have a roof over my head. Food. Freedom to move and now i love the bliss of ignorance and to live in my bubble and hopefully those times never hit me again.

@Perry1968 yeah, you never know what somebody's story is and I can always have some empathy ,but it does have to be mixed with common sense, of course.
I've given out food to the homeless before and I worked at a soup kitchen a few times.
I only met one really out of their head person and who knows what happened to her to make her that way.
