The last film I actually went to the theater to see was Demon slayers infinity castle chapter 1 of 3.
And that, in a way, was oh so symbolic of my real feelings. I went late (into the release cycle, it was a mantee) it had been out for a while, and a young couple sat below me. I was happy other people locally were interested, but ultimately it said a lot that by that point I wasn't going to see something Hollywood produced, But Japan instead.
I don't hate woke. I have to express that. I don't blame woke. I blame Low Quality Writing mixed with preaching. In my view, Star Trek had black women as characters, and it did well.
But Hollywood has essentially gotten to the point where token inclusivitiy is expected to be rewarded even if the story and dialog are pure garbage. I'm done with this shit.
I'm also MAD because I know WOKE does work but you have to do it right. Take a Cold hard look at Anime Fandom FAVORITE A silent voice about a boy who bullied a deaf girl had a change of heart as he grew up learned to sign and grew increasingly disillusioned with a Japanese Society around him that wasn't inclusive and expected conformity as a social commentary on how fucked up Japanese Society is. WOKE. AS FUCK. he befriends the deaf grrl and everything. he starts trying to make dues for his misdeeds.
AND BELOVED. BECAUSE It is WELL EXECUTED.
