Interesting that back in 1941, The Republic studios made a 12 chapter serial called The Adventures of Captain Marvel.
Tom Tyler starred as Captain Marvel and Frank Coghlan Jr. as his alter ego Billy Batson.

When it was necessary for Billy to transform into Captain Marvel, he utters the word "Shazam" and suddenly in a puff of smoke, the super hero appears!
