Is anyone on here? Is sky customer like myself and what do you think about the end of the satellite dish in favour of Wi-Fi streaming TV services?

Hello people, quick question is anyone on here? Is sky customer like myself and in particular a sky Q? The reason I’m asking is there has been a lot said lately about the potential end of the satellite dish from 2029 into 2030 in my opinion this is a retrograde step as the most reliable form of TV viewing is via satellite I really love my sky Q box and the features that it offers being able to fast forward and rewind TV and record my favourite programs. Does anyone else agree with me that sky should continue offer set top boxes beyond 2030 and who else here is a sky Q customer and appreciates its benefits like me

I’m still on Sky+ as I have recordings I don’t want to lose.
The major problem I can see is if tv is only delivered by broadband and it goes down..as it did here the other week due to a fault miles away…you have no TV.
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Its only the same as with a dish in a bad storm. If it was raining heavily it would stop working. You do still have the free view channels

I had DirecTV for a number of years and it was okay. The prices kept creeping up so I ended up canceling it. After I moved, this building had cable, so I use that but I did some pricing. I live close enough to Boston that I can pick up channels over the air. The streaming services would end up costing me more than the cab;e if I replaced the variety of channels I can get from cable. Honestly, I don't watch enough TV to spend the time surfing channels, so I'm planning to disconnect and not stream either. At $5 per channel, it doesn't take many streams to end up costing more than cable. Your situation may vary but it's easy enough to do the math.

Of cpurse if skyQ is your only choice, then switching to streaming may be your only recourse. I'd just suggest that you carefully consider how much you watch the channels and maybe give up on some of them.
Im on sky stream. No dish 3 pucks and sky glass tv.
It was a little challenging at first. No plus one channels or an option to record. However you have a playlist where all your favourite programmes are added. What i do like is there are no wires or cables. And definitely no dish.

@jackjones68 You should get together. Form the Sky Cult. Sacrifice broadland lines.

I have a Roku TV with various apps including a Spectrum App which gives me my local channels too. I like it.

I quit sky for it's cheaper subscription service,Now TV..I pay much less, and no longer record multiple programmes. I just watch something like the old day's. Just remember what I'm watching and go find it

Its a bit like energy security - we need to keep our satellite systems going. JMHO

@SexyDerek oh, well you never mentioned Sky before.
SexyDerek · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 anyway what is your opinion? Do you have sky Q? Are you concerned about the end of the satellite dish era?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@SexyDerek I'm actually concerned you didn't mention Sky enough,
