You would pay for TV
Why?
I just use my antenna on my roof and watch all the FREE TV I want.
Why would anyone want to spend money on things that are already free?
All the shows you mentioned you could just download them by using things like Napster. Other ways just watch on-line for free and other ways for free.

@HumanEarth I pay for most of the media I consume. But what I'm paying for is: convenience, clarity, ease, choices, portability, etc.
You might pay less than me, but I have access to more content when and where I want it. It's all about choices. 🙂

@HumanEarth Not everyone can "see" over the air TV. I can't where I live, on the side of a hill. Sucks, but that's reality.

@uncalled4 Same. I'm about sixty miles from Boston (straight line) and fifty-eight miles from Providence. Our reception is awful.

What did you do for television before the Internet?
I swear you people just love to throw money away. Like I don't even pay for internet.

@HumanEarth Give me a break. I used to pay almost $200 for cable, and traded that in for a total of about $17 a month for Hulu and Paramount+ and then the annual fee for Prime, which includes video. I live in a relatively congested city where it’s been only recently that apartment dwellers (and when you rent you can’t always put antennas on the roof) were not at the mercy of cable companies for access to even regular channels. And yes, I remember the days before cable companies—I remember the days of having about 6 channels, black & white tv, the midnight national anthem and test patterns. But things have changed, alas. Progress. If you want more, it costs.

@HumanEarth Don’t get me wrong, I try to be frugal, too—but I’m not willing to risk jail or fines just to watch tv.
