The Crow remake

I have seen the original several times, and I really like it. It is a very haunting and atmospheric movie, beautiful and interesting. Brandon Lee was charismatic in his role, and his untimely death makes the film more poignant, his presence more powerful. He plays a character who, along with his fiance, was murdered. He comes back from the dead, resurrected by the crow, and goes to seek his vengeance. His city is a dark and violent one, ruled by criminals, the same criminals who murdered him and the woman he loved.

A movie like this cannot be replicated. It is timeless and should have been left alone. I have read that his fiance appears more in this movie, that she is used as a protagonist when it is him who is the protagonist, the only protagonist. In the original, filmed in 1993, what you see of her is fleeting, but it has power and mystery.

What happened to movies like this?

My favorite scene is when he goes to confront the gangsters who murdered him and his woman, and kills them all.

The original one is so iconic and beloved to many, including me. But I had an open mind when I saw the preview for this new version of the tale. Then I saw a review of it from someone who I’ve followed for years who has similar tastes to mine. He broke it down for me and the disappointment now felt is real. Just gonna stick to the version I know and love because there really is no replicating the cinematic magic that that movie created.
