The Crow remake

I have seen the original several times, and I really like it. It is a very haunting and atmospheric movie, beautiful and interesting. Brandon Lee was charismatic in his role, and his untimely death makes the film more poignant, his presence more powerful. He plays a character who, along with his fiance, was murdered. He comes back from the dead, resurrected by the crow, and goes to seek his vengeance. His city is a dark and violent one, ruled by criminals, the same criminals who murdered him and the woman he loved.

A movie like this cannot be replicated. It is timeless and should have been left alone. I have read that his fiance appears more in this movie, that she is used as a protagonist when it is him who is the protagonist, the only protagonist. In the original, filmed in 1993, what you see of her is fleeting, but it has power and mystery.

What happened to movies like this?

My favorite scene is when he goes to confront the gangsters who murdered him and his woman, and kills them all.

I have never seen the original because of Brandon Lee's death on set, and I avoid remakes like the plague, the exception being Red Dawn, only because I wanted to see a modern prepper's perspective, as well as Clash of the Titans because I like Liam Neeson, Jeffrey Irons, and Ralph Fiennes, the superhero franchises are more like continuations/sequels, like comic books. However all that being said, hollywood remakes movies, and like Disney, live actions, because their writers no longer have any original story ideas.

@NativePortlander1970 The original is a very special movie; you should watch it. I know he died on set, and it was a tragedy that should not have happened. However, I think he would want people to watch this movie.

Some remakes can be good. One would be Scarface (1983), another favorite of mine. Most of the remakes now are very bad, and I do not think a movie as iconic as the Crow, with Brandon Lee playing main character, and his death occurring during filming, should be touched. I would never not watch the Crow 1994 (year of release) because of his death, but I will absolutely not see this remake for that reason. In review I read, it also seems to be a bad movie. It is very popular now to have female protagonists, and it is done in an unnatural and wrong way. His fiance is supposed to be ethereal and mysterious; she is dead, and he has come back to seek his vengeance.

I like the actors you mentioned too. Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson are two of my favorites.

The actor in this remake, Bill Skarsgård, is a good actor who normally chooses good roles. I do not know what possessed him to choose this.
@SW-User I just cannot watch it. Speaking of Skarsgard, I did watch It part one and was not impressed.
