Suspension of reality

I love just falling into a movie. Love it. And typically I’m fanciful enough to find it easy to do. Right up to that point where they pull up to the front doors of the building in the city and there are miraculously empty parking spaces so they just park and walk in. 😑 wouldn’t bat an eye if they sprouted wings and flew, but that’s just too much.
One of my top movie/television pet peeves. In any major city, you’d sooner win the lottery than find a parking space in front of the building you’re visiting.

And free parking, too?

Did they read the three signs at the end of the block with the times? Do they understand them? Two hour parking only M-F 11am to 2 pm, except in bus lanes or loading docks. Three hour parking 8-6 Saturday. Pay at the kiosk. Or use the app. Free parking on Sunday.

@JustNik

My first summer job was painting parking meter poles and parking lot guard rails. My uncle was a meter maid. I also installed the mechanisms in the parking meter heads. Back then they were all mechanical. I smelled like turpentine and WD40. I also had to weed parking lot flower beds. Plants are so prickly!

@JoyfulSilence that sounds satisfying keeping everything neat and tidy and running smoothly.

@JustNik

It was hot and dirty.

My second summer job was grading math homework. Much better!

The movie Love Story was filmed, in part, on location in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I watched it, with a whole bunch of other college students, on a campus in that city.

At one point, the characters ride their bicycles home, lean them against a tree, and walk inside. No bike locks, no worry about theft.

The entire audience laughed.

@DrWatson I feel vindicated. 😌😄
In our society, understim would be quite painful without the TV and movies, etc. Plus, the entertainment directs us to the obedience we see all around us.

Have you ever seen Falling In Love?
JustNik · 51-55, F
@BuzzedLightyear no I haven’t. Is there are a lot of parking? 😂
