In the world of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, could a human and a toon date?

Rewatching it for it's 35th anniversary coming up, I pondered this. Toons are attracted to those who make them laugh, does that mean they'd be attracted to a human that makes them laugh and wanna date them?

I remember seeing this in the cinema when I was pretty young and thinking there was quite a lot in it that wasn't for children!
