I’m a hardcore Harry Potter fan and me and my cousin are arguing about the “movie” they are coming out with

I’ve loved Harry Potter ever since I was a wee child. My cousin on the other hand has not read or watch a single movie. Their excuse? “I don’t have a long enough attention span.” They watch SEASONS of shows that I could not watch through. They watch Marvel and DC. I do as well so I look at them with a confused look and say “Marvel had a three hour movie, and a sequel before that. You’ve watched ever so many movies that were three hours long. Harry Potter has and average watch rate of one and an half hour to two and a half hour.” We argued for a long time about this. They are excited about the new Hogwarts Legacy Game and claims “it was an experiment to see if they can come out with a new movie.” I reply with, “I highly doubt that it will be released, Harry Potter has already gone through his whole character arc, which is based on the books. Why do they need to come out with a new movie?” Now if you’ve ever watched and read the books you’ll see what I’m coming at here. I think it will not have the same vibe to it as all the other Harry Potter movies because I’ve not heard about J.K Rowling writing another book ( I really don’t look into her life for reasons I will not list ). Fantastic Beasts is based on a book she wrote as well. Now my cousin brings up this one thing, “ A movie is a movie. Besides they can make it about his child.” I’m getting a little pissed off at them because Harry Potter movies to me feel a certain way. Just like if you were to read a book and find out they’re coming out with a movie. You’ll finally get to see how they incorporate the characters, plot, and setting. But my cousin says that is useless and not all movies need a book to go with it. They rarely read books and watch the movies that go with it (yes I am aware that Marvel and DC movies are based on the comics but I’m talking about chapter books and novels). I said and I quote, “But you need to understand one thing, all the movies that is the wizard world is from books. If they came out with a new book then the movie would make sense.” And then they reply with once again “a movie is a movie” and then I say something along the lines with Harry Potter movies have come to the end so we don’t need any more movies with him in it. I know that this is a silly little rant but for some reason it just pisses me off that someone who doesn’t read the books or watch the movies says that it will just feel the same way if the movie didn’t have a book to go with it. They also hate the Star Wars series but love the games that come with it and the funko pops. Overall I think that if they come out with a new movie it would not feel like the Harry Potter movies. But again I’ve only read an article that says that they don’t need to make a new movie and list reasons in the article.

The decision to make a movie depends on powerful people in the film world and their opinions about what will sell movie tickets.
