The 39 steps (1935) by Alfred Hitchcock

Just watch this short sequence from an early Hitch movie for the perfect mix of sensuality. Not only are the two main characters Richard and Pamela (played delightfully by Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll) handcuffed together, they've just gotten into a small hotel bedroom, dimly lit with went clothes on, handcuffed to each other, hungry and stuffing their faces with sandwiches. They're extremely hungry and wet and uncomfortable and sensual. They want to get their wet clothes off and warm themselves, but really can't. "What's next on the program?", Richard asks Pamela, "Do you have a file in that bag of yours?" Here I must confess is the moment when I get tingles each time, and it's when Richard's hand touches Pamela's wet stocking and legs. She's trying to get her wet stockings off. Being Canadian, he casually, as he dropped the slice of ham onto the floor, puts his hand now first on her right and then left knee. She obviously doesn't want him to know that she cares and only has eyes for her sandwich. A lovely sequence and so believable as it's indeed very loosely based on the 1915 adventure novel with the same title by John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir, the then Governor General of Canada [media=https://youtu.be/k5tmPrvuDVU]

This film is an absolute peach. Hitch was a master of eroticism as well as suspense, in my opinion.
