Now, Voyager (1942) - a lifestyle movie

"The untold want by life and land ne'er granted,
Now, voyager, sail thou forth, to seek and find."

(out of Untold Want, a poem by Walt Whitman)

There are indeed so many movies that Betty Davis was excellent in. Now, Voyager is my own favourite. One could call it a romance but it's so much more. At the beginning the actual terror of being inside such an household, that the Davis's character was in, then meeting a good, brave doctor played by that excellent Claude Rains and then, of course, finally meeting the man of her life. That her actual love interest was played rather timidly by Paul Heinreid is explained further on. He's married with a daughter and his wife doesn't want to give him a divorce or up, or something similar. By miracle though the patient, the Davis's character, becomes an healer to the daughter. She calls the daughter his gift to her and her way of being close to him. Her famous answer to the question if she's happy was: "Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars."

Thought film was a bit over rated,

Prefer Davis and Henreid in much lesser known Watch On The Rhine.

Prefer Davis and Rains in Mr. Skeffington.

Love Davis in In This Our Life and many others, love the BD hidden gem The Corn Is Green.

Love Rains in so many including Hitchcock's Notorious.

@therighttothink50 For me then, I'd say Lean, P & P and Kramer. More recently Kubrick, Bondarchuk and Ripley Scott.
