FIREBALL XL5 (GB 1962). Does anybody remember this? Especially those from the UK...

I do - barely. It was one of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's early puppet series, made in black and white. Music was by Barry Gray. They went on to produce 'Stingray' and of course 'Thunderbirds', their best-known legacy, and a number of other shows.

I remembered there was a male lead called Steve, and a robot called Robert 😁. I had forgotten the name of the female lead (she was called Venus). I had totally forgotten the middle-aged scientist type, and the monkey type creature who sometimes appears. This looks like yesterday's version of the future, but it was 60 years ago. And space was something magical 🥰

Yes, I recall. I was like 6 when it was broadcast in NZ, I think. I'd forgotten the robot, amazingly

I never missed it on Saturday mornings. Mostly because of the song. I was recently telling my girlfriend about it. We were going to watch Thunderbirds.

PROPER TV.

@wonkywinky God no, it was TERRIBLE. Even at age 6 I could work that out. But there were no alternatives in NZ then (one channel)
