My take away from this is you have an Australian Interviewer probing hard for meaty details, on which Tom was not allowing (most likely to protect his Children, and his relationship with them). Is Tom "Eccentric?" Absolutely!
He's in a career choice that by most definitions would require a level of Narcissistic traits to survive in.
Tom was quick to correct the interviewers when he was trying sneak a question in about the "Who's the Star of the film?" Tom handled the question perfectly in my opinion and gave a true Artist's Answer regarding the Storytelling being the most important aspect.
