TV Series Based On Michelle Obama Gets Cancelled After Just One Season

A series on the Showtime network called ‘The First Lady’ that was based on Michelle Obama has been cancelled after just one season.

This is somewhat surprising, when you consider the way Ms. Obama is covered by the media. According to them, she is one of the most beloved and popular figures in the country.

If that’s true, why didn’t the show last? Weren’t people watching it?

:) I think the US news and entertainment industry has gone the way of the US auto industry and US department stores. But with a big difference being that the US news and entertainment industry can't be counted on to report the bad news about itself.

Does anyone still watch anything on ABC, CBS, NBC except maybe for live sporting events? Anyone remember the outrage when CBS snipped the tail end off a PGA golf match in favor of 60 Minutes :) More viewers prefer to watch a Golf match rather than CBS's prime time news magazine.

How much of the US news and entertainment is still a US industry? Don't a bunch of Chinese communist now own most of AMC and a dozen of their subsidiaries? If they no longer own it, it's probably because they had to cut their losses and put their money elsewhere.

You'd think that Showtime would have flourished during COVID, but what flourished was Tubi and the other streaming video providers who brought us the hundreds and thousands of great movies from around the world.
