How to turn my tv off automatically on amazon fire stick after inactivity?

I've been looking for s solution to this for a while.

EDIT We have a solution! Thanks all! answer below!

When I'm watching my firestick after hours of inactivity, it often goes to sleep mode, but my tv remains on, wasting power.

One morning, I was watching the stick before I had to leave, and I didn't realize I pressed the speak button instead of the power button. My TV was on all day.

And last night, I was watching the stick. It was late and I guess I drifted off after a phone call. My stick was in sleep mode, but when I woke up this morning, my Tv was still on.

If I'm watching regular TV/cable my tv shuts off automatically after hours of inactivity.

I haven't found a solution online, but I did see others had a similar issue.

Is this even a thing? Thanks in advance.

THANKS, EVERYONE!! I THINK WE HAVE A SOLUTION!

My tv goes into power-saving mode automatically after a certain amount of time of inactivity.

My tv and firestick were connected via an easy link option that's been preinstalled on my tv this whole time. so when my firestick went to sleep, it actually was doing the same thing my tv does after inactivity. I thought it was turning off before like my other tv but it wasn't. I will have to manually use a sleep timer as other people suggested or manually turn it off to power my stick and tv off.

You may find this article helpful, most modern TV's that have HDMI use what's called CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), your TV may call it something else depending on the brand, this will allow you to control both your TV and the FireStick using the Firestick remote, once you have this setup, the sleep function on your Firestick should turn off your TV too:

@spjennifer Yep! It was doing this all along and had no clue! lol I mean I am able to control my tv with my firestick remote, so I do usually manually turn it off, but those other times it actually was going into a power-saving mode instead of turning off. I do have another tv that actually turns off so I probably got it mixed up, but thank you again for your help!
