Would it be an overstatement to describe the late Rod Serling as a “visionary” ?

(from “The Obselete Man”, TZ 1961)

No,that would be a fair description - I enjoyed the series when when I first saw it in the '60s.I remember one episode in particular that had my brother and I sitting in the edge of our chairs - "The 30-Fathom Grave".There was another series I also liked,"One Step Beyond" - which slightly pre-dated "The Twilight Zone".

@craig7 I vaguely remember One Step Beyond. I think I watched a few episodes when it was rebroadcast late at night, years after the show went off the air.
@DrWatson @craig7One Step Beyond was especially scary because the stories were based upon real events.

@bijouxbroussard Well, that comment has now whet my appetite for trying to find a few episodes!

“I Sing The Body Electric “ by Ray Bradbury
Interesting note. I read an Article on Serling and the Twilight Zone. Bradbury and a few other contemporary writers at the time, had a problem with Serling stealing themes from them when he ran dry on ideas.
Bradbury’s wife accused him of taking the episode “ Where is Everybody” from Ray’s
Story “The Silent Towns “

@DocSavage As long as we're all talking about writers from days gone by, I should mention that when I was in junior high school, I loved the Doc Savage books.

Based on a true story isn’t a reliable statement when it comes to movies and TV
@DocSavage Sigh. Understood. There have been a couple of episodes based near where I live with stories I have recognized.

@DrWatson I found some old VHS tapes of that show. I like that one too. ⭐ I like most things out of the ordinary.

@DocSavage I remember "I Sing The Body Electric," and had really never heard of Ray Bradbury until recently. He has a TV show on now, it's the first time I've seen it this year.

Ray Bradbury was one of the great Sci-fi writers of the time. You can find “The Ray Bradbury Theater “ on Roku, and a few other streaming channels. Highly recommend.
You might know him for some of the book/movie based on his work : Fahrenheit 451,
The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes , The Beast From 20,000 Fantoms, The Illustrated Man.
Also, there are four, or five episodes of the Alfred Hitchcock show based on his short stories.

@DocSavage I get him on "Comet" now that I bought an antenna that gets extra channels.
