Would it be an overstatement to describe the late Rod Serling as a “visionary” ?

(from “The Obselete Man”, TZ 1961)

Wow. I don't remember that one. Yes, he was a visionary. I appreciate his poetical dialogue more today than when the series aired and I was so young.

@DrWatson You will see appearances by so many who went on to become famous actors. Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery in a 2 hander. Dick York in several James Doohan, pre "Scotty" (without the accent.)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Yes, I have seen lots of re-runs and noticed that.

During one season they aired only one hour episodes(occasionally shown during marathons). One episode is “He’s Alive !” featuring a very young Dennis Hopper as a Neo-Nazi. Another episode that was banned for 52 years and just recently included in the marathons was a controversial episode called “The Encounter” starring a young George Takei, about a WWII veteran facing a young Japanese-American in civilian life. (Takei actually spent time in an internment camp as a child.)

@bijouxbroussard Yes. The Hopper one is particularly powerful and poignant today.😷

@bijouxbroussard Yes, and a few years ago Takei was in a Broadway show about that internment experience.

Death’s Head Revisited
Is the best episode dealing with Nazis. Check it out.
@DocSavage I’m very familiar, with Oscar Beregi and Joseph Schildkraut.
But that épisode deals with Nazis and the camps.
"He’s Alive !" is one of the hour episodes, dealing with Neo-Nazis and how the hatred takes hold in a community.

@bijouxbroussard Interesting coincidence. The other night my wife and I watched the Twilight Zone episode "The Rip Van Winkle Caper", one of my favorites, starring Oscar Beregi.
@DrWatson Yes, I saw that one, too.
