Apocalypse Now, Barry Lyndon, 2001.

@Fukfacewillie Wow... Yes, amazing choices, though I found the story of Barry Lyndon didn't engage me as the visuals did!

@PhilDeep Thanks! Barry Lyndon is an odd film although it’s grown on me through the years. The scenes shot with just candlelight were done with lenses built for NASA.

I was going to add Lawrence of Arabia. I saw it on 70mm a few years ago. If ever a movie made for 70mm…

I agree with Blade Runner too as it was first, and often not been matched. It had a style beyond its innovations. It’s influence is greater than any other film mentioned here, probably.

@Fukfacewillie Blade Runner is my all time fave. I watched Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen on re-release. True, its awesome too! I love Kubrick generally and thought his 2001 was also visually impressive in many ways. I wonder what you thought of the newer Blade Runner too?

@PhilDeep I liked it, and the talent and skill of those who made it are incredible. Being older I am less “wowed” unfortunately. Seeing Blade Runner as a kid was mind blowing.

@Fukfacewillie I first watched it when the Director's cut came out and have rewatched Final Cut and all the others multiple times too!
