Lykos That's beautiful, and I can relate.
It captured the spirit of America's past time entirely. Mixing past and present, with a little mysticism--as well as the chance for redemption between a father and son.
Though I came to the movie late in life, purchasing it in 2009,I had strong ties, like you, back to childhood.
Nothing matched the satisfaction of a good game of catch -- the smell of a glove, the smack of the ball diving to it out of a blue sky, like a fallen angel.
Yes, it's in the soul where this story plays out.
No doubt you loved the White Sox - Yankees game featured there a few weeks ago...that was poignant, genius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug4bsd4LqqM
The Legend of Bagger Vance has a similar hold on me as well.
I appreciate the B.A.!
