That's beautiful, and I can relate.

It captured the spirit of America's past time entirely. Mixing past and present, with a little mysticism--as well as the chance for redemption between a father and son.

Though I came to the movie late in life, purchasing it in 2009,I had strong ties, like you, back to childhood.
Nothing matched the satisfaction of a good game of catch -- the smell of a glove, the smack of the ball diving to it out of a blue sky, like a fallen angel.

Yes, it's in the soul where this story plays out.

@SethGreene531 To this day, the taste of Gatorade takes me back. I used to be a great pitcher. Playing under the lights was my favorite.

@Lykos Oh yes, I get that. For me it's the ping of hardball off an aluminum bat, or fresh cut grass.
I was never a stellar athlete, so these were just pickup games. But every bit as real to us. We were the original kids of The Sandlot, lol.

That's fantastic, always wanted to pitch. But really my favorite position was outfield.

You must have played as a young man then, and into your later years. Great!
