Current allegations aside, why is the new host of Jeopardy so unpopular with some fans?

Possibly because Trebek liked James Holzhauer better.

It's funny cause I know exactly what you're talking about and yet I haven't seen a single episode and I don't even know this person. I'm subscribed the subreddit though and they're kinda pissed. I think the main complaint is that he seems kinda scummy? Like there are better options and he got the job and nobody knows why? That's my impression anyway.
