It was not something we really got in england before, but I did hear it was legendary.
I suspect much like a British comedy things are far too politically correct now and so many jokes would no longer be acceptable.
Saying that, we have watched some of this past series and it has been refreshing as there are so few topical comedies around. I suppose as we don't have the good ones to compare it against they maybe do not seem so bad.
