@SimplyBored: I was a kid, back in the late 1960's and early 70's, when I saw the film. I think because he got his wish to become a real boy, instead of being a puppet; just a reminder that sometimes, dreams really do come true.

Aw yeah I love how Disney incorporates dreams coming true as a message. It's really refreshing.
