Nerdy Star Trek Question Again :D

So...which is your favourite theme from the series's? Such as Voyager, DS9 or the TOS

And which is your favourite from the movies? Such as Wrath of Khan, or First Contact?

Fav theme: 1) TOS; 2) Voyager (I was prepared not to like it, but it quickly grew on me. It could have been Jeri Ryan, too.)

Fav movie: 1) First Contact; 2) Wrath of Khan (Shatner and Montalban tripping over their egos was great).

My contention has always been that these movies are as good as the villains in them and I agree with much of the sentiment here that Star Trek got a lot more interesting when the Borg were created.

The Borg and Khan are Treks ONLY real villains, sure Gul Dukat was an asshole...but he was only interested in Bajor, he was a soldier.

The Borg are unstoppable, Khan, in his newset renditions words is "Better" at "Everything"

Gene Roddenberry was a legitimate visionary in many ways, but I never agreed with his rather sappy, overly optimistic view of the future. It just doesn't comport with human nature. There is a line that Khan speaks in the 2nd TOS movie that always makes me smile. One of his henchmen says, "They're (the Enterprise) lowering their shields." And Khan responds with a smirk, "Oh, yes, we are one big happy Federation."

I believe Roddenberry had the point of view as the many captains did "We're explorers" etc. whilst Starfleet Command was cooking up plans to kill the Klingons. It makes sense, from a certain point of view ;)

@Fangirlsarah1996: There is a really good documentary on Netflix if you have access to it that chronicles the creation of TNG. By the second season the writers were at wit's end with Roddenberry's vision saying, "How can you have an interesting story if you are writing about a society where there is no conflict and everything is perfect?"
