I Love Movies
Precious directed by Lee Daniels, tells a story about a s*xually abused teen, pregnant with her second child and living with her abusive mother who sees a chance to turn her life around when she is offered the opportunity to transfer to an alternative school. Under the patient, firm guidance of her new teacher, Ms. Rain (Paula Patton), Precious begins the journey from oppression to self-determination.
Some people do not like this film and I don't blame them as this movie is pretty grim considering that its focus is on child abuse and serves as sad reminder that similar scenarios like this happen to children in real life. However, I enjoyed watching this movie because it brings awareness to that issue and also because of the performance from Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) and Mo'Nique (Precious' mother) they did a fantastic job.
