To me it seems like they just keep trying to remake past hit movies trying desperately to make a new box office hit from something that worked before instead of producing other works out there.

I'm actually keeping a running tally of all the live-action remakes Disney has put out/will put out: Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan, The Jungle Book, Charlotte's Web, Pete's Dragon, the two Alice in Wonderland films...

Not counting Maleficent since that was more of a crappy prequel, and Mary Poppins Returns was a sequel.
