Am I the only one who gets lowkey uncomfortable watching Dr. Phil?

My family is hooked on that show, and I used to enjoy it too at some point, but...

Whenever the audience laughs at something one of the people say I just can't help but feel like they're being shamed. Humiliated on public TV. 馃槱

I get that they're getting help, but it still bothers me a lot.

Low key?? But its not about him.. Its about the people he brings onto his show.. How can they be SO helpless and willing to throw themselves under a bus in front of America?

@whowasthatmaskedman, the ones that come on there with addiction and mental health issues do get sent off to some really plush places with top of the line personnel to help them get well. He often includes the whole family too. It is likely the motivation for being embarrassed on TV.

@Peapod Yes. Rehab I understand.

@whowasthatmaskedman, sure is a shame what some have to do to get good help. That is what always goes through my mind.

@whowasthatmaskedman Good mental health care is hard to come by, and it's far from free. The people who become guests on Dr. Phil often get good help at expensive facilities with great followup for little to nothing.

I'm glad they get the help, but it's so painful to see people crying or being otherwise upset while an audience laughs.

@NorthernRoses, completely agree.
