Was based on a book. They decided to not create or show the "thing" that it was supposed to be because they felt they could not do it justice entirely and that showing a representation that was not up to par would have ruined it.
I felt the same way about the ending I expected more and for more explanation to come out of it. The movie was okay to me I may have expected it to be a bit better due to all the hype over it but it wasn’t bad although I didn’t love it. I thought the idea of the movie was interesting though it was different and I haven’t seen a movie with a storyline like that really so I felt it was unique which is rare with movies lately. I give it a thumbs up overall.
I liked the suspense and loved the ending, though I know things have been changed from the book. For example, they don't reach a place for the blind, they reach a place where people have gouged their eyes out so they they wont see the monster and kill each other.
@Anastasia101 Well the reason why they didn't was because the person who was in charge of the movie wasn't good at creating horror movies but specialized in suspense. That's why instead showing gore and revealing the monster like in the book, it's suspenseful instead.
