I think she's exactly the right person for the role, but I started to get bored with it post-Matt Smith. The few I've seen in this series have been okay but it doesn't feel like an event any more, like it used to.

@GlassDog My only issue is how Americanised the shots have become. Sounds odd to say but when comparing British dramas to American dramas there is a visible difference. Nothing wrong with American dramas at all, I just think it loses the Doctor Who feel.

@BlackcurrentSundae It might be a deliberate thing because I know Doctor Who has a big audience in America.

@GlassDog I believe so but it's made in Britain. America loved it enough when it was 100% British. It's starting to give the feel of "supernatural" not Doctor Who. It's become generic rather than sticking with it's purity.

@BlackcurrentSundae Yeah, I completely agree with you. It had always had British quirk and that's probably the reason other cultures liked it. It seems a bit short-sighted to drift away from the thing that appeals.

@GlassDog I believe it also did so because of the increase in their budget. They say they are appealing to the youth but I am a millennial and still love watching the old Doctor Who. Bad sets are 100% forgivable in Doctor Who because the writing makes up for it. I mean, look at Red Dwarf.
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@BlackcurrentSundae Yeah, Red Dwarf bad sets and bad special effects were part of the character of the show. It's not so well-known now, but they did go back and update the special effects when they had a bigger budget and it's really hard to get hold of the originals.

@GlassDog red dwarf is on Netflix.
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@BlackcurrentSundae Yeah, I've rewatched a few. The external shots of Starbug and planets uses the new special effects.

@GlassDog All I remember are the ones I've seen on Netflix. They have cardboard sets and all. I did grow up with them throughout my entire life but I don't remember anything other than the sets ive seen on Netflix.

@GlassDog red dwarf is still being made for Dave 👍️
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@SAandME I do watch the new ones sometimes, but I kind of wish they'd have stopped just before they brought Kochanski back and Chloe Annett played her instead of Clare Grogan.
BlackcurrentSundae · 22-25, F
@GlassDog Yeah I don't like Kochanski.
SAandME · 56-60, M
@GlassDog Yes they were the worse, well other than the comeback red dwarf: back to earth on Dave which was pretty poor. Series x was ok but xi & xii i have really enjoyed.
