Matrix Reloaded

Yesterday when I was looking for crazy memes, I ran into this bit about when Joker poisoned Batman's girlfriend and claimed Batman would have to kill him for the antidote. Now it's pretty much established beyond the fourth wall that if Batman kills Joker it's dark hellish world time (In fact, in various alternate universes, this seems to have happened regardless of WHO kills Joker, perhaps taking it a bit too far). Superman convinced Batman it's what his girlfriend would've wanted and they decided to let Joker live, only to discover it was another one of Joker's, er, jokes and she lives, only to break up with Batman who chose Joker over her.

And that's just way more screwy than the Matrix choice, but illustrates perfectly everything that's screwed with it. Of course, "How am I alive?" "Because I sacrificed everybody else you could love to get to shag you, that's why" might go through even worse. 😂
