I have found South Korean writers have a very beautiful way of creating character pieces in movies. They borrow Woody Allen in ability of storytelling and at the same time create something more moving emotionally in character.
I'll try to find one for reference. I watch a lot of movies.
Check out the director, Hong Sangsoo. Often a subdued style of writing and directing, but often those create better glances within character stories.
