Spiderman sure looks like a joke more and more in the latest movies

I miss Tobey Maguier as spiderman..he was such a badass, but they gotta seel that teenager cliche crap 馃檮.

Toby was actually playing spidey really similar to the new guy, they are both dorky fanboying over scientists and insecure, spidey was never a pure badass, he was created intentionally as a flawed teen as Lee said it in so many occasions. The only stupid spidey was the middle one Andrew something.

Well the problem is Toby had a serious story it would have been stupid for him to joke around his uncle's death also Toby is older like the spiderman from the 90s cartoon and behaves similarly to that more mature Parker , but how many times do you have to see the same story? They had to move him from the 90s to the 20XXs so you can't expect the same humor or the same behavior from teens just like a teen in 80s movies doesn't behave like a teen in 90s movies. I loved Toby but his Peter/Spidey was stupid too at many times but it's a flaw that is there on purpose, he's not Batman he doesn't have it all figured out or have all the answers he screws up sometimes stupidly (uncle Ben's death anyone?). I like where they're going with Tom, sure some things are irritating but most are related to us getting old and them appealing to the current generation of teens not us. Also dropping Tom in the middle of the action, during captain america, obviously jumps over the drama from the first ones.

@kayoshin I get all that but somehow in the latest movie they manage to make him look like a cliche kid,he has no character.

He actually behaves like a fanboy but aside from that have you seen the kids out there? He isn't like your regular kids out here you don't see him snarking at his parents and wasting his whole day on his smartphone, sure he does some cliche nerdy things but he also is a nerd in all the versions (except the Andrew version where he seems like a sort of cynical hipster or something like that?) and the whole idea of Spiderman was to have a regular cliche kid confront with highschool life and the complications of a sudden huge dose of responsibility.

That's what Spiderman was from the start. He started in the 60s because Marvel saw a lot of teenagers wanting comic books, so they wanted a teenage superhero for them to identify with. A kid who is in over his head and won't stop talking, surrounded by more serious adults doing hero stuff was the idea 55 years ago.

So yeah, Marvel is getting in on that teenager cliche crap, but that's 'cause they invented the cliche with this character.

@CountScrofula Its not enjoyable unless you're a 12 year old kid.
Rokasu36-40, M
@Aydao He鈥檚 a nerdy teen. They tend to have some sort of social anxiety/disorder that works out in either the college or career years. It may be annoying but it鈥檚 pretty accurate for what he is. A fanboi who鈥檚 just getting his roots as a hero but still socially awkward.

@Rokasu For me the only spiderman I like its the cartoons one and when played by Tobey Maguire,i'm not saying he should be serious all the time but god damn,he acts like everything its a joke all the time, how am I supposed to take him serious?
Do you know that Spiderman is as strong as Hulk?
MethDozerM
Spider-Man was always lame.
