Every time I see a Star Trek: Discovery debate

Discovery fan: Discovery is great, so much better than any other show.

Discovery critic: Well...I don't like it because it disregards everything in every other show...as well as having a generic story and overhauling visuals to an unrecognisable style.

Discovery fan: Wow you suck, you just don't like new things, you're so blind to how good the show is.

That's how I see 90% of "discussions" go, one side ignores criticism and passes it off as blind hate *sigh* this is why I'm starting to hate reboots...change for the sake of change, those in support of said change tend to ignore anything negative about it, resulting in a downward spiral that can only be fixed by backpedalling so far that there was no point in even trying.

I enjoyed it, it's a good Sci-fi show, but it's just not Star Trek for me.

@Quizzical It's good...an excellent Sci-fi show even...but only if you don't consider it Star Trek.

It's obvious that the guys running the show wanted to compete with The Expanse...but CBS tossed in the Star Trek brand to attempt to get more marketing for it.

It's not an uncommon practise, so I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

@Fangirlsarah1996 If you want to watch something far closer to the spirit of Star Trek check out The Orville.

It's like real people thrown into a Star Trek setting 😁

@Quizzical I haven't seen it yet, I keep meaning to.

Still, having Seth McFarlane in charge is an absurdly good idea, I mean, he clearly loves Star Trek.

@Fangirlsarah1996 That's exactly WHY it's more Star Trek than Star Trek currently is, lol
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Because it's made by a guy that both understands and loves Star Trek?

Hm, figures 😏

@Fangirlsarah1996 Funny that really... Knowledge and passion making for a great product, lol
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Well if someone is doing something just for money, they'll do as much work as they need to.

When someone does something because they want to, they'll do as much work as they want to.

It's why most, if not all, passion projects with the same funding, do far better than "normal" projects.

@Fangirlsarah1996 Hence the success of Deadpool too
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Exactly, Ryan wanted it to happen that badly he officially unofficially leaked test footage of it to pressure them into funding it.

Which we're all glad for...and I'm glad the thing got recognised, the sequel looks like it got a hell of a lot more money.

@Fangirlsarah1996 I'm hoping the script is just as good, I would hate Deadpool to have been a flash in the pan.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Even if it's bad I'm pretty sure they'll be telling jokes about how bad it is.

Because they're meta like that.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 Probably the only film that has the leeway to be able to do that and still maintain continuity, lol
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Continuity? Hah.

Didn't he have a flashback in a flashback while talking about the first flashback in his second flashback?

He's not supposed to have continuity xD
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 A fair point, lol 😂
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical He's the continuity breaker.

He probably has that on his bed or...whatever he classes as a bed *shudders*
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 I howled when his girlfriend was pegging him, lol 😂
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Quizzical Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a sex montage before...ever before...
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 Classic :D
