Good year.
I might go with 1977 though. Some different styles were ushered in.
(EDIT: These movies are from 1979)
- Alien
– All That Jazz
– Apocalypse Now
– Being There
– Breaking Away
– The Great Santini
– The Jerk
– Kramer vs. Kramer
– Meatballs
– Monty Python's Life of Bryan
– Norma Rae
– North Dallas Forty

@Ynotisay Smokey and the bandit cam out in 1977 also
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User That was '77. I screwed up and meant to write '79.
bijouxbroussard · F
@Ynotisay Between The Lines came out in 1977. It’s definitive to me, because it feels the way I remember the 1970s.

Pulp fiction is my fav film of all time!! "Nah man, I'm pretty ... far from ok" XD
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
Quiz Show. Underrated but solid.
firefall · 61-69, M
@luckranger71 yes, one that was very good indeed
bijouxbroussard · F
@luckranger71 Yes. A very good movie about an actual event. It was fascinating.
Ynotisay · M
@luckranger71 Good call. Great flick.
tiggerandariel13 · 46-50, MVIP
other 1994 films with honors Speed and Beverly hills cop 3
Reboot · 46-50, M
Those are all very good movies, I'll agree. However, saying that 1994 was the best year in movie history is really pushing it. There have been plenty of years that have had better box office turnout and income than 1994.
I think this statement is more opinion than any specific measurable criteria.

I enjoyed The Shawshank Redemption, and came to like Forrest Gump a lot more on rewatches than on first viewing. Pulp Fiction I found over-rated. The Lion King, so hyped, I've never wanted to watch it - maybe I'm missing-out..? Leon I liked a lot, but far more-so in it's cut version.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
It was a good year!
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
But best is quality not quantity, I don't know that those movies even added together are better than say Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, or the Godfather.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@Subsumedpat Ew. Two of those films are film hipster drivel
LadyJedi · 36-40, F
@Subsumedpat not gonna argue that any movie is better then the godfather...
but more making a point about the year and how great and innovative hollywood was then.
now its only comic adaptions and part 2 .. 3.. 4... of whatever other movie

I couldn’t get through 10 minutes of The Godfather @Subsumedpat
SW-User
But the Room didn't come out until 2004 >:(
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@SW-User I tried to get The Room from the library. They don't have it but they do have the movie about it.
SW-User
@hunkalove I am so pissed that they don't show the movie about The Room in cinemas here >:(
LadyJedi · 36-40, F

SW-User
Absolutely agree. Can't think of another year with so many great movies.
