I want your advice on this one.

A friend promised to text me last Friday to talk about stuff that mostly concerns me. I rarely ask to talk about me. Most of the time we talk about his stuff.
On Friday, no message. On Saturday no message. I opened our chat on WhatsApp on Saturday around 3pm just to see if maybe I misread what he promised. I could see he was online, on and off many times.
I waited 30min, nothing.
I sent him a message saying "dude, the least you could do is message me that you're busy."
He said he was sorry, he had a busy Friday and the Saturday too. I let know how I felt how about the situation, specially that I usually don't make this kind of request. He apologized again for being selfish. He blamed it on the new job and family issues.

The things is he was online and never thought of sending a message to excuse himself for almost 2days??? I couldn't believe it! I see it as a huge disrespect.
It's kind of a hard pill to swallow.
I'm thinking of cutting him off.
What do you guys think.

Several years ago my life literally fell apart it was a horror show. Everyone I ever knew abandoned me and I have not heard from them since. It seems when you are no longer useful many have no use for you.

[@423488,curiosi] That's exactly what it seems like.

I've found in my experiences that the best way to end a one way friendship is to not try unless they do.

I'm sorry :( he sounds thoughtless and like he doesn't care about you.

{@emortal] yes i can understand your disappointment with him . you must feel let down by him when he was was not there when he said he would . a time you need friendship and advice . try not be too hard on him . maybe he has his own his issues with family as he suggested . give him another chance and see what happens . the ball is in your court really

i think cutting him off is your best option, i know how easy it is to slip up and forget to be there for people especially if you live inside your own head a lot but to not even message saying he鈥檇 check back at a better time isn鈥檛 okay
you voiced how you felt and if you cut him off it might show him he needs to shape up
you deserve a better friend馃

[@933084,poisonouscupcake] that's hard to swallow.

Don't contact him again and when he does contact you don't answer straight away ( few days) and see if he calls again . It sounds like you鈥檙e just not a priority to him and yes a hard pill to swallow..He broke his word so he is not trustworthy and doesn't respect you enough as you said to even send a simple I am sorry I am really busy text. He can't be trusted.
EmortalM
[@1178602,LeaDhelani] it's that disrespect that's not easy to ignore.
LeaDhelani18-21, F
[@492052,Emortal] Yes but that's on him. You don't have to carry his bs. He did wrong and the best way will be to protect yourself and make sure it doesn't happen again. You can't control what he does but you can control what you do
EmortalM
[@1178602,LeaDhelani] True.

Maybe he wasn鈥檛 fully ready to talk about certain things or had to drop out last minuet. I would consider everything he鈥檚 done before thats really upset you , before you cut him off , If you do cut him off at least explain why to him or maybe you can both work something out it鈥檚 important you both are really honest with how you feel and all the issues you both have
EmortalM
[@1132510,Ladylavinia] you got a point about explaining before cutting him off.
