Netanyahu, Sa’ar to sue New York Times

Prime minister and foreign minister say Israel will sue the American newspaper over what they call one of the most horrifying lies ever published against the country, after Pulitzer winner Nicholas Kristof alleged systematic sexual violence of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers and prison guards.

The decision follows an opinion column by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof, who accused IDF soldiers and Israeli prison guards of systematic and brutal sexual abuse of Palestinian detainees. Among the claims cited in the column were allegations of rape using dogs, metal rods and other forms of sexual violence.

Sexual abuse (sodomy) of Palestinians prisoners is commonly used as a method of humiliation. Just in case Netanyahu and Sa'ar are not aware of it.

The New York is owned by a Jewish family.

The family was Jewish generations ago, the current generations have been raised Christian or non-sectarian. Former publisher and chairman of the board, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., (the Times is a publicly-owned corporation) was raised Episcopalian.

1). This kind of thing happens in every war by both the “good guys” and “bad guys”.
2). This has been an open war with brief haitus since WWII.
3). It follows that this is likely true, the only debate is to the extent and amount of coverup.

Would love to see the evidence come to court. IDF sexual violence is bi different than Hamas sexual violence.

Note that the post purposely does not make comparisons, because when it comes to the use of sexual violence as a method of torture and humiliation, there are NO good guys. If you think this is an open war since WWII, you've missed the rise of Netanyahu and the rapid takeover of Palestinian land by Netanyahu and the extreme Israeli right.

This is NOT going to come to court while Netanyahu is Prime Minister.

And I repeat, sexual violence is sexual violence, and there is no difference at all.

Well…they can’t claim it’s coming from a place of anti-Semitism. And truth is the strongest counter against a claim of libel or slander.

I'm betting Netanyahu quietly drops his suit as soon as the discovery process begins. That's usually the way of these things.
