Israel and Hamas agree first phase of Gaza ceasefire deal

Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire and hostage release deal, paving the way for a possible end to the conflict in Gaza.

Under the plan, Hamas will release the 20 living hostages it is still holding, while Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line and free nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees, sources told the BBC.

World leaders, Palestinians and Israelis have welcomed the news - but details remain sparse and crucial further steps, such as who will govern Gaza, are still to be discussed.

The long-awaited breakthrough raises hopes for a lasting peace in a conflict that has lasted two years and two days, and cost tens of thousands of lives.

It’s been “accomplished” before until fighting stops for more than a decade it’s all just a temporary truce and vying for humanitarian aid. Everyone has their own problems it time to leave the Gaza Palestine situation to itself and charge all responsible parties with war crimes
Sadly, Israel is still bombarding Gaza despite supposedly "approving" the deal.
Israel is losing, but they can still make it worse.
They're likely to attack Iran.

Your ignorance is only exceeded by your hatred.

That's as maybe, but facts are facts: Israel has already broken the "ceasefire" before it even began.

Air strikes have continued 'in many places' - displaced Gazan tells the BBC

Suha Shaath is a pharmacist currently living in a tent in al-Mawasi near Khan Younis.

She spoke with BBC Radio 4's Today programme earlier this morning, explaining that air strikes have continued "in many places" in Gaza since the ceasefire was announced.

Describing the conditions she lives in, she explains they rely on carbohydrates and canned food - with no meat, eggs or fish. Everything is "very expensive" compared with before the war, she adds.

"The only advantage of this agreement is [it] stops the killing," she says as she underlines the need for time to recover.
