Israel troops are so trigger happy that they are now shooting hostages!

Just imagine how many innocent Palestinians might have been killed so far !!

That’s what happens when you can’t tell who’s who when the enemy wears civilian clothing.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 they were shirtless waiving a white flag. Quit making excuses.
Puppycat23 · F
@trollslayer you have a source for that? Plus That’s not an excuse. Hamas does wear civilian clothing.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 that’s what the idf says…
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 if you shoot at a shirtless person waiving a white flag - who else is fair game?
Puppycat23 · F
@trollslayer So here’s the full story:
The military official said the three hostages had emerged from a building close to Israeli soldiers’ positions. They were waving a white flag and were shirtless, possibly in an effort to signal they posed no threat.

Two were killed immediately, and the third ran back into the building screaming for help in Hebrew. The commander issued an order to cease fire, but another burst of gunfire killed the third man, the official said.

Israeli media gave a more detailed account. The mass circulation daily Yediot Ahronot said Saturday that according to an investigation into the incident, a sniper identified the three hostages as suspects when they emerged from the building, despite them not being armed, and shot two of the three.

The soldiers who followed the third hostage into the building believed he was a Hamas member trying to pull them into a trap.

Soldiers followed the third when he ran into the building and hid, shouting at him to come out and at least one soldier shot him when he emerged from a staircase, Yediot Ahronot said.

I would say this is more of bad intel rather than just soldiers with bad intentions, especially since they thought the three were members of Hamas.

@Puppycat23 it still means they are willing to shoot at unarmed people, and that is a war crime.

I feel like a sucker for telling people to give the idf the benefit of the doubt when they were being accused of being trigger happy and not caring about who they killed.
Puppycat23 · F
@trollslayer They cared enough to report on who they killed. And admitted they made a mistake due to mistaken identity.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 doesn’t matter. Pretty much proves they likely have made the same mistake against palestinians. Did they admit to or apologize for that? Mistaken identity? How do you mistake a shirtless guy waiving a white flag? Who next? Old woman in wheelchair? Boy walking a dog? Oh we made a mistake - how about quit being cowards and admit you are trigger happy and that you are going to correct that?
JSul3 · 70-79
@trollslayer They learned from the US.
Shoot first....ask questions later.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@JSul3 exactly!! And it sure upset me when my own country was doing this!!
Puppycat23 · F
@trollslayer They admitted their mistake. It wouldn’t have been mentioned at all.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Puppycat23 How nice of them. I hope the families sue Bibi for murdering their loved ones.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 did they admit to doing the same to palestinian civilians? Or are we to believe this is the only mistake they made?
JSul3 · 70-79
@trollslayer About 17k civilians killed so far. How many were Hamas?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 shooting at a shirtless Unarmed man waiving a white flag is not a “mistake”. It is a war crime.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@JSul3 idk, but 70% of that number are women and children.
Puppycat23 · F
@trollslayer That is a mistake. They mistook them as being members of Hamas that is what the IDF said. The Israeli military said it "expresses deep remorse over the tragic incident and sends the families its heartfelt condolences."

@BlueGreenGrey

apparently the hostages were wearing invisible suicide vests?!

No but they did encounter several seemingly unarmed civilians in Shejaiya, who later turned out to be Hamas suicide bombers.

There have also been several attempts by Hamas in the area to lure soldiers into an ambush.

It’s why I believe this is more of poor intel rather than bad intent. And apparently the scenario itself, of hostages walking around in a battle zone, was never taken into account by the IDF until this incident occurred.

This unfortunate event does give hope that there are hostages still alive, however the IDF should be more careful who they shoot.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@Puppycat23 you look in your scope, you see a white flag, and you dont shoot. No intel required.

@BlueGreenGrey tens of meters away. How can you possibly mistake that as a threat?

@trollslayer Given how there were several attempts by actual Hamas militants to lure soldiers into an ambush, It's not so simple like you want it to be. In the end it was due to bad intel because they didn't expect hostages to be walking around the battle zone.
